About Phil
Phil
Qualified Maths Teacher · Developing Maths
With over 14 years of teaching experience in both the classroom and online, Phil has helped students from leading international schools around the world achieve success in IB Maths Analysis & Approaches (AA) and Applications & Interpretation (AI), at both Standard and Higher Level.
Drawing on years of experience teaching IB Maths, Phil has developed an in-depth understanding of the syllabus, the assessment criteria, and the methods the mark schemes reward. He also provides support with every stage of the Internal Assessment (IA), from choosing a suitable topic through to improving the final submission.
Every lesson is tailored to the individual student. Rather than following a fixed programme, sessions are planned around the areas where support is needed most, with clear explanations, targeted practice and effective exam techniques to help build confidence and improve performance.
Courses covered
Whatever course and level you're studying, lessons are tailored to your own pace and the way you personally learn best - not a fixed script.
Why 1-to-1 tuition, alongside the practice questions?
The free practice questions on this site are built to give you instant, auto-marked feedback on thousands of exam-style problems - brilliant for repetition and building fluency at your own pace. Tuition is for the part auto-marking can't do: working through why something isn't clicking, in real time, with someone who teaches these exact courses every day.
The goal is genuine understanding of the maths, not memorised steps that fall apart the moment a question is phrased differently.
Real past-paper practice and technique, not just content - the two are taught together, the way they're actually examined.
Every lesson starts from exactly what you're stuck on - a topic, a past-paper question, an IA draft - not a fixed curriculum order, and flexes to your own pace and learning style.
Booked directly online at times that fit around school, time zones, and exam deadlines - weekly, occasional, or intensive pre-exam blocks are all fine.
Frequently asked questions
How do I book a lesson?
Pick an open time at ibmathshelp.online/book and pay online - it's instantly confirmed, added straight to Phil's calendar, with an automatic video call link sent by email.
Can I book more than one lesson at a time?
Yes - you can select and pay for up to 8 lessons in a single checkout. Each lesson is still confirmed and can be individually cancelled, so cancelling one doesn't affect the others.
How far ahead can I book, and how last-minute?
Up to 2 months in advance. Lessons starting before midday need at least 12 hours' notice; lessons starting at midday or later need at least 6 hours' notice (UK time). Free cancellation closes 24 hours before a lesson, so a lesson booked at shorter notice can't be cancelled for a refund.
What's the cancellation policy?
Free, full-refund cancellation up to 24 hours before a lesson, via the link in your confirmation email - no login needed. No refund for a cancellation inside 24 hours or a no-show. Full details on the booking terms & cancellation policy page.
Do you teach all four IB Maths courses?
Yes - Analysis & Approaches and Applications & Interpretation, both SL and HL.
I'm outside the UK - can I still pay easily?
Yes. Payment is by card via Stripe, which automatically converts the price to your local currency at checkout.
